The ever-changing collective Tiger Saw was founded by singer / songwriter Dylan Metrano in Newburyport, Massachusetts in 1999. Over six albums, they’ve explored a beautiful, hushed, slowcore sound; indie pop sing-alongs; and “basement soul”, a DIY take on soul / rhythm & blues. Tiger Saw has performed it’s original scores alongside the silent films Nosferatu and The Adventures of Prince Achmed, and has collaborated with Exit Dance Theater. Dylan Metrano’s book All My Friends Are Right Here With Me: A Decade in the Indie Rock Underground, an oral history of Tiger Saw and its community of friends was published by Burst & Bloom Press in 2009.
Tiger Saw has toured extensively on three continents and is known for playing unorthodox venues from beach bonfires to treetop sing-alongs, as well as basements and barrooms from coast to coast. Tiger Saw has performed nearly 1000 shows with many bands, including Grizzly Bear, Explosions in the Sky, Phosphorescent, Jens Lekman, Deer Tick, The Gossip, and Brown Bird.
Tiger Saw’s sixth album, “Horn Hill”, recorded over the winter on Monhegan Island, ten miles off the coast of Maine, was released in November 2015.
The band currently consists of Metrano, Guy Capecelatro III, Marc McElroy, Jim Rioux, and Erik Tans. The new album “The Featherweight” will be released in 2018.
