Hamilton Belk plays the pedal steel, or “sad machine” as he likes to call it, on “The Ballad of Gram and Keith”. He produced the collaborative Tiger Saw and the Reasons Why album, “Wet & Unlucky”, and played on every song on that one. His distinctive sad machine can be heard on some of the best music out today, country and otherwise.
Jonathan Blakeslee plays the double bass on our cover of Vic Chesnutt’s “Flirted With You All My Life”. He fronts the group Jonathan Blakeslee and the Fronds and owns Portsmouth NH’s finest tea shop, White Heron Tea.
David Michael Curry plays viola on “Anxiety”. DMC played on the first Tiger Saw album way back in 2002. He currently plays with Boston’s Hallelujah the Hills.
Stu Dias lends his voice to “North Star / Lucky Star” and “Rider, Rider”. He sang the lead on Tiger Saw’s “Stronger Than Wedding Rings” on the 2019 album “The Featherweight”. He plays in many bands, including Soggy Po Boys, Wizardess, and Diaspora Radio.
Dylan Earl sings on “the Ballad of Gram and Keith”. Dylan lives in Arkansas, and sings country music all over the world. He collaborated with Tiger Saw on the 2019 album “Wet & Unlucky”.
Mike Effenberger plays Wurlitzer on four songs. He is one of the all-time great keyboardists, and plays in many bands, including Soggy Po Boys, Jazzputin, and Sad Bastards / Loose Standards.
Mara Flynn sings on “Rise Above”. She can be heard on Tiger Saw’s “The Featherweight” album, and has released three albums on Burst & Bloom Records.
Helena Gabrielsson sings “Always You”. She has collaborated with Tiger Saw several times, including the song “Night, Pt. 2 (Helena’s Song). She lives in Sweden and fronts the band Cake on Cake.
Eric Klaxton plays clarinets on “Rider, Rider”. He played saxophone on Tiger Saw’s album “The Featherweight”, and is a member of Soggy Po Boys.
Bree Scanlon sings on “Rise Above”. She lives in London and fronts the band Cape Snow.
Dan Sullivan plays 12-string electric guitar on “Beaster” and “The Spectre”. He lives in Chicago and plays in the bands Arriver and Nad Navillus. Tiger Saw met Dan when he was in the band Songs: Ohia.
Sarah White sings “The Spectre”. She lives in Virginia, and met Tiger Saw in the early 2000’s when she released some beautiful albums on Jagjaguar.
Thalia Zedek sings on “The Levee”. She lives in Boston and fronts the bands Come, Thalia Zedek Band, and E. She’s a goddamn legend.
Lee Zodrow plays Wurlitzer, Mellotron, Rhodes, and B3 organ on two songs. He lives in Arkansas and collaborated with Tiger Saw on the 2019 album “Wet & Unlucky”.
